2026-01-30

  • Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD and 2500 HD achieved a combined 44.1 per cent share of the Australian full-size truck segment in 2025 (VFACTS)
  • This result represents a 7.7 percentage point increase in combined market share year-on-year (44.1 per cent in 2025, up from 36.4 per cent in 2024)

Friday 30 January 2026 - General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) has recorded a milestone year in Australia, with the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LD and 2500 HD combining to claim top spot in the competitive full-size truck segment with 44.1 per cent market share in 2025, according to official VFACTS Light Commercial registration data.

The performance marks a 7.7 percentage point uplift in combined market share compared to 2024 (up from 36.4 per cent), cementing Silverado as Australia’s #1 full‑size truck, and reflecting growing confidence in Chevrolet amongst full-size truck buyers.

2025 was a landmark year for GMSV, and these results are a direct reflection of the trust our customers and Dealer Network place in the Chevrolet brand, said Jess Bala, Managing Director, GM Australia & New Zealand.

Australian customers have made Silverado the number one choice for those who tow, tour and work hard – recognising its unmatched capability and performance. Having recently celebrated GMSV’s five-year anniversary in market, this milestone underpins the strength of the Chevrolet brand across Australia.

“We’ve seen growing numbers of buyers moving into the full-size truck segment, and they’re telling us they want vehicles that can comfortably tow large caravans and boats, haul serious loads and still deliver the refinement and technology they expect from a modern premium truck. Silverado ticks all of those boxes, and this market share result shows just how strongly it’s resonating,” said Bala.

The Silverado line-up – comprising the Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium and ZR2, and Silverado 2500 HD LTZ Premium – has continued to win over customers seeking a powerful, well-equipped and spacious truck that can handle Australia’s toughest conditions while delivering comfort and confidence on the road. In particular, the Silverado 2500 HD has become the benchmark in the heavy‑duty space, capturing more than 74 per cent of Australia’s 2500 market — proof that customers who tow serious loads continue to choose Chevrolet.

“To grow our share by 7.7 percentage points and secure #1 position in the full-size truck segment is a testament to the strength of the Silverado proposition and the dedication of our Dealer Network” said Greg Rowe, Director – Sales & Operations, GM Australia & New Zealand.

“Our dealers have played a critical role in this success with a focus on training and customer experience to match the expectations of full-size truck buyers. Their commitment has helped ensure Silverado is the go-to truck for Australians who demand serious towing capability, generous space and premium refinement,” Rowe said.

From 1 October 2025, every new Chevrolet Silverado has also been backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre manufacturer warranty paired with five years of 24/7 Ultra Roadside Assistance, further strengthening customer confidence in the Silverado range.

Looking ahead, GMSV expects momentum in the full-size truck segment to continue as more Australians seek vehicles that can confidently tow, carry and tour – all while delivering the comfort, refinement and technology of a modern passenger vehicle.

“With a growing appetite for full-size pick-ups across Australia, and Silverado now firmly established as the country’s #1 full-size truck, we are exceptionally well placed,” Rowe added. “We’re focused on building on this leadership position in 2026 and beyond, ensuring that when Australians and New Zealanders think full-size trucks, they think Chevrolet first.”
